Recently, I’ve been all about listening to a good podcast. I love learning new strategies to engage my students, keep myself organized and productive, and new tools to use in my classroom. Whenever someone asks me where I learned something, chances are it’s from one of the teacher podcasts I listen to.
My commute to work is about 20-25 minutes, so it usually takes me a whole day to listen to a podcast between my commute to and from work. To be honest with you – some of these teacher podcasts I listen to at 1.5x speed because they’re long.
Here I share with you my top 5 FAVORITE teacher podcasts that make my commute seem quick!
Spoiler alert: the last one is my favorite, but I might be partial to it! 🤣
1: Math Before Breakfast
This podcast is amazingly informative! Seriously, if you teach upper elementary school or middle school then you will love these two teachers. One fourth-grade teacher and one sixth-grade teacher dive into the conceptual understanding of teaching math. Not only will you learn strategies for teaching students the conceptual understanding of math, but you will get a ton of engaging math resources to help you be the best teacher. Check out the podcast by clicking here.
2: Hustle Sanely Podcast
If you are a teacher then you’re probably busy 120% of the time. This isn’t a teacher podcast in the sense that you’re thinking, but it is THE BEST productivity podcast on the internet. Jess Massey from Hustle Sanely will save your sanity and teach you how to hustle sanely (pun intended). She not only shares actionable steps for handling overwhelm, but she also shares strategies for self-care that don’t take up too much time. Because let’s be honest, as teachers time is scarce. Check out this podcast if you want to learn to be peacefully productive!
3: EdTech Bites Podcast
As a teacher with a love of tech, I couldn’t let this list go without the mention of the EdTech Bites Podcast. Seriously, there are great conversations about food and tech tools, my two favorite things!
4: Not So Wimpy Teacher Podcast
Jamie Sears from Not So Wimpy Teacher is AMAZING! She has amazing ideas for teaching, but she also has a spin-off podcast called Not So Wimpy Entrepreneur. If you are thinking about becoming a teacher seller or starting a side hustle, then you will want to subscribe to this podcast. I love how the episodes are short but filled with such great information and actionable steps.
5: Teacher Leader Podcast
I couldn’t share this list without sharing an amazing podcast that I am so happy to now be a part of! Brittany Rincon invited me to co-host her podcast – The Teacher Leader Podcast. Season 3 kicks off in November 2021 and I will be joining Brittany as a cohost! We will be talking about all things teacher leadership, and no that doesn’t mean administration only! I am so excited to share with you all the ways you can be a teacher leader and give you ideas for alternative routes to leadership in education!
